Empowering lives—building communities—All-One!
We are excited to fund and support projects that have a concrete impact on the lives of people and communities, and we are inspired by all those who do this work. From programs like the Boys to Men youth mentoring network to... San Diego County's Food Bank , in partnership with Dr. Bronner's, is committed to supporting efforts to serve communities and their needs.
Internally, we are proud to honor the legacy of Jim Bronner (son of Dr. Bronner and former president of Dr. Bronner's) through our support of youth and charitable programs, especially those dedicated to the poor and disadvantaged youth of San Diego. Jim Bronner, having spent part of his life in shelters, knew firsthand the positive impact that well-run youth programs have on the lives of these disadvantaged young people. Jim Bronner pioneered the support provided by Dr. Bronner's for various youth programs in the San Diego area, including the donation of over 1,000 acres of land to a Boys' and Girls' Club . Dr. Bronner's continues to provide primary support to local Boys' and Girls' Clubs and the local YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association).
We are also proud to support Turning Green , a global student movement dedicated to educating and advocating for environmentally sustainable and socially responsible choices by individuals, schools, and communities.
Boys to Men Mentoring 's mission is to recruit, train, and empower communities of men to mentor teenage boys, including the 100 Waves Challenge, presented by Dr. Bronner's, the largest annual fundraising event benefiting Boys to Men. Every year in September, hundreds of surfers take to the water at Mission Beach in San Diego, CA, to support Boys to Men Mentoring and its programs. World surfing champion Shaun Tomson and professional surfer Damien Hobgood also participate in the event every year.
San Diego Food Bank - Last year, the Food Bank distributed 63 million pounds of food, and the Food Bank serves an average of 550,000 people per month in San Diego County. (San Diego County Surfrider Foundation)
The Surfrider Foundation San Diego County is a community of ordinary people who passionately protect our playground—the ocean, the waves, and the beaches—so that everyone can enjoy them. They fight for clean water, coastal preservation, ocean protection, beach access, and reducing plastic pollution.
